Nexusorbiter

Nexusorbiter is a free arcade survival game you play in the browser. You guard a fragile space station with a single drone that circles it and shoots on its own. You only do one thing: flip the direction it orbits.

That one input is the whole game. Time the reversals well and your drone stays lined up with the next threat. Time them badly and something gets through to the station.

What is Nexusorbiter?

It is a 2D orbital defense game. Your drone loops around a central station and fires automatically at enemies that spawn from the edges of the screen. Tapping reverses the loop, so positioning is all about when you switch from clockwise to counter-clockwise and back. You push through 30 plus stages, each one throwing a new kind of enemy at you, and spend the scrap you earn on upgrades between runs.

How to play

You have one control, so the depth comes from reading the field and reacting in time.

Desktop controls

  • Left or right mouse button to reverse the orbit direction
  • That is the only input, your drone fires by itself

Mobile controls

  • Tap anywhere on the screen to reverse the orbit direction
  • One finger is enough to play the whole game

Enemies and threats

Each stage adds something that breaks your routine, so you cannot rely on one rhythm for long.

  • Glue bombs have to be shot from a distance, get too close and they catch you
  • Homing suicide drones chase your position and try to ram you
  • EMP drones shut off your auto-fire if they touch you, which leaves you defenseless for a moment
  • Healing orbiters circle bosses and patch them back up, so you usually want to clear the healers first

Upgrades and progression

Surviving waves earns scrap, and scrap buys upgrades along six different paths. You decide which way to build: more firepower, better survivability, or whatever the current wave demands. The right build shifts as you go deeper, so part of the game is adjusting your choices to the threats you keep dying to.

There are also multi-boss encounters later on and a daily challenge that pays out bonus scrap, which is the fastest way to bankroll upgrades.

Tips for surviving longer

  • Kill EMP drones early, losing your auto-fire even briefly tends to snowball into a station hit
  • Keep your distance from glue bombs and pop them across the gap instead of orbiting into them
  • On boss fights, take out the healing orbiters before you commit damage to the boss
  • Do not spam the reverse, holding a direction for a beat lets your drone clear a cluster before you swing back
  • Run the daily challenge for the extra scrap and put it toward whichever upgrade path is failing you

What makes it hard

One button sounds easy until two threats arrive from opposite sides. You can only face one way at a time, so every reversal is a small bet about which side matters more right now. The later stages stack enemy types that punish different mistakes, and you feel each wrong call immediately.
